Getting the Heat Right
Annealing is all about balance. If your temperature gradients are off, you’ve got internal stress in the glass, and that’s a recipe for disaster. We don’t guess. We build your lamps to match your exact voltage and wattage so they play nice with your current power supply. If you’re working with quartz or borosilicate tubes, you need that intense, shortwave heat to get the job done fast. But a quick heads-up: keep an eye on your cooling fans and heat sinks. If you cram too many watts into a tight space without enough airflow, you’re just going to fry the lamp ends. It’s a simple fix, but it’s where a lot of people go wrong.
The Details That Actually Matter
We use high-purity quartz glass. Why? Because it lets the IR light through and doesn’t crack when the temperature swings. Depending on where the lamp sits in your annealing zone, we can even add coatings to tweak how the heat hits the glass. Then there’s the wiring. This is usually where “custom” lamps fail. Nobody wants to spend their afternoon modifying a machine chassis or messing around with sketchy adapters that add electrical resistance. We use standard R7s, SK15, or custom terminals so the lamp justclicks into place. No field-wiring. No headaches.
No More Cold Spots
In the annealing stage, the glass has to sit at a very specific temperature before it cools down slowly. If the lamp is a fraction too long, it won’t seat. Too short? You get cold spots. Those cold spots lead to thermal cracking, which means more scrap in the bin. We obsess over the measurements. By keeping the tolerances tight, the heat stays uniform across the whole piece.
