
Why Your Bathroom Heater Shouldn’t Feel Like a Stadium Light
Ever stepped into a bathroom with one of those infrared heaters and felt like you were being interrogated by a police spotlight? Yeah, it’s a problem. Most of those high-wattage quartz lamps pump out a harsh, blinding white light. It’s uncomfortable for adults, but for a baby with developing eyes, that kind of glare is just too much.
Fixing the Glare
We wanted to fix that. The goal wasn’t just to “dim the lights”—that’s not how the physics works. Instead, we focused on the light itself. Standard halogen bulbs love that bright, blue-ish range. We use special coatings and filtered quartz to block out those aggressive blue wavelengths. By pushing the energy toward the long-wave infrared side, you get all the warmth without the blinding flash. It creates a soft, gentle glow. Your eyes can actually relax instead of squinting the whole time you’re drying off.
Keeping it Safe
Heat is great, but “hot spots” are not. If a lamp is too concentrated, you risk someone getting burned if they accidentally touch the guard. To stop that, we use a diffused reflector. It spreads the heat out evenly, so you feel a consistent, cozy warmth across your whole body rather than one scorching beam hitting you in the shoulder.
The Trade-off
Here is the honest part: you can’t get something for nothing. Every time we add a filter to protect your eyes, we lose a tiny bit of the raw heat passing through. It’s a small price to pay for safety, but it means we have to bump up the wattage slightly to make sure it still feels plenty warm. Just a heads-up—make sure your housing is rated for that wattage. You want the heat going toward you, not melting the fixture.
